Napoleon’s Face
Monika Milewska imagines an alternative 1835 in which Napoleon won at Waterloo and still rules France. As the country prepares to celebrate, the emperor faces a different battle: sitting for Louis Daguerre’s camera. The play examines power, image-making and the ownership of one’s own face.
